At POWER, we are transforming residential electrification by using the home’s existing electrical panel as a key strategy to make electrification easier, faster, and more cost-effective without unnecessary upgrades. In many homes, the panel already in place can support full electrification.
With EPIC funding, a team of POWER members are developing the Home Power Planner, a user-friendly, open-source tool designed to support homeowners and professionals in electrifying single-family homes while staying on existing panel capacity where possible.
The project will field test the tool in homes with a panel capacity of 100A or less.
The members in the POWER Group are core to driving the change and successes in the residential electrification space to optimize existing panels. At 250+ members across 90+ organizations, our cross-sector POWER community has catalyzed research, spurred policy analyses, shifted programmatic implementation, and influenced codes and regulations to support this power efficient design approach to maximize the home’s electrical panel.
